About Anne Sofie

Anne Sofie von Otter leads this summer's Master Class for young singers in Båstad, with a focus on concert and lieder repertoire. The course features within the framework of the Birgit Nilsson Days, which this summer takes place for the sixth consecutive year. The week long musical activities also include the annual Stipendium recital, traditionally held in the church of Västra Karup (locally acknowleged as “Birgit’s church), and an open-air concert performance of Puccini’s opera Tosca at the Birgit Nilsson Museum, with an international cast of star soloists. The Birgit Nilsson Stipendium celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and the 2023 recipient will be announced on 17 May at the museum, which opens on 27 June with a new exhibition: “Puccini, Passion and Art.“ It is with great pleasure that Anne Sofie von Otter returns to the Birgit Nilsson Days where she led the Master Class three years ago: - It's always fun to work intensively for several days on a course and to be close to the students. Here we will be together from morning to evening for almost a week and you have the chance to get to know each other. Plus summer and sun and Bjäre and music all day long - a wonderful combination. Anne Sofie von Otter is currently performing in Richard Strauss' opera Arabella in Madrid. On 20 March she makes her premiere in Tchaikovsky's Pique Dame at the Royal Swedish Opera, in the role of the Countess.
